The maelstrom continued until she heard Ash growl and then Logan moan as they both pulsed their seed deep within her.

“Oh my god.” Emily sagged between them.

“Fuck. I am glad we’re mated. I can’t live without you.” Logan kissed her temple as he pulled away from her. “Let me go and start up the shower.”

  * * * *

An hour later, freshly showered and dressed in soft fleece clothing, the trio relaxed on couches in one of the quieter rooms in the club, after inviting Rachel to join them. Emily blinked sleepily as the conversation swirled around her.

“We captured three coyotes that attempted to follow you. Dylan is interrogating them now as we speak. I am sure this mess will be cleaned up as soon as they reveal where Mortef is hiding.” Marcus’s phone beeped with a text message.

Emily felt Logan stiffen slightly. “Dylan is still here? That is one infamous lycan.” She glanced up to Logan’s face and he kissed her. “Dylan is rather ruthless in his interrogation techniques.”

Marcus nodded gravely. “Yes, this rogue pack is violent enough that I felt we needed to take this kind of action. I normally don’t condone torture, but…” Marcus shrugged as he read his message.

Ash leaned forward. “I for one am glad they brought him in. Those coyotes have gone too far. They’ve killed innocent humans as well as hunted our mate. If we don’t draw a line in the sand now, they’ll escalate.”

“That is why I called them,” Marcus said while texting on his phone. “They would only continue to worsen if we do not deal with them brutally.”

One of the newer human ladies cried out in one of the scenes. Emily watched Ash as he studied the supernaturals that worked with her.

Rachel had been sitting quietly with Marcus while they talked, and she twisted a napkin in her lap. She glanced around nervously now and then, but then her attention went back to her napkin.

“So, how did you get an invitation if you didn’t know any supernaturals?” Ash asked Rachel.

“Well, I knew Joe and I had no idea he was a supernatural. We’d just hooked up a few times, and I’d asked him if he knew about this place. He said no at first, but then a few months later, he gave me an invitation.”

Logan chuckled, and the sound rumbled in Emily’s ears and filled her with a joy she never thought was possible.

“The universe has some strange ways of uniting fated mates,” Marcus said with a grin. “I am not convinced Joe knew Rachel well enough and he isn’t a reckless lycan that hands out invitations to just anyone.”

“So you think it was fate?”

“I do. When he was questioned later by his own Alpha as to why he invited innocent humans, he couldn’t explain. Later, even his Alpha agreed that it was fate intervening.”

Emily was nearly asleep when she heard a murmur of rich, seductive voices. She opened her eyes and turned her head just enough that she could see two men walking up to a device that was made out of some sort of leather. Straps crisscrossed it and there were various restraints attached to the leather. They appeared slightly moveable so that both sides of someone’s body was accessible, but they could be fully restrained.

“Here is our reserved scene area.” The blond-headed one turned, and Emily could see the red tint to their eyes. They were vampires. Emily paid closer attention since she didn’t know much about vampires. Here was her chance to see them without having to interact with them.

A young man with dark short hair joined them after a few moments. A woman in a miniskirt handed the blond vampire a sheet of paper. “O positive male as you requested, Andrew.”

Holding her breath for a moment, Emily continued to watch the vampires as she tuned out Logan’s conversation with the other enforcers.

Andrew circled the man and Emily didn’t miss the hunger she saw in the vampire’s eyes. “What is your name, boy?”

“Dan.” He watched the vampire, and Emily thought she saw his hands shaking a bit.

“Oh, Dan.” Andrew glanced over at the other vampire. “Dan seems nervous, Latherous.”

Latherous grinned and stroked a slim, pale hand through Dan’s hair. “Have you ever allowed one of us to feed on you before, Dan?” His voice was smooth and seductive. Emily could see how vampires lured people out, even without using their compulsion.

Emily turned her gaze to Logan. “Do vampires here actually feed on humans?”

Logan glanced over to the vampires and then back to her. “Yes, they need human blood to live, but every human here has to request it from the human staff when they check into the club. If a vampire asks a human, then they are punished severely since vampires can compel as you remember.

“Ahh yes.” Emily turned her gaze back, and they were restraining Dan to the wall. Dan was naked now and Andrew was pulling leather straps over his body. Dan looked really nervous. “Why are you tying me up?”

“We wouldn’t want Danny boy here to hurt himself while he’s in the throes of a good feeding.” Latherous stroked one of his hands down Dan’s bare chest. “Last chance, my pretty boy. Once the blood lust starts, there is no stopping us.”

Dan nodded, “I know. My sis told me that.”

“Oh, your sister told you about us, huh?”

“Yeah, she promised me I’d like it.” Emily watched Dan swallow hard and glance around nervously.

“So Dan,” Latherous said as he stroked his chest. “Your sister convinced you to give us a try, but you do not appear gay.”

Dan swallowed hard again. “My friend, Mark, bet me. He said I wouldn’t even have to screw one to come a few times.”

Both vampires laughed a seductive laugh. “Oh yes, word of how vampires stay so well fed is spreading, Andrew. You feed us and you have the time of your life.” Latherous’s hand moved to Dan’s cock and he began stroking it. “Although, I must warn you,” he whispered. “I am gay, and I am going to fuck your ass hard while you’re screaming.”

Dan’s gaze jerked to him, and he opened his mouth as his cock started to grow. “I think you really like that idea, Dan.”

Dan silently nodded as Latherous stroked his cock.

Just then, Andrew’s mouth opened and his needle-point fangs descended. He bit into Dan’s neck. Emily watched as the long fangs sank into Dan’s flesh.

His eyes widened in pain at first, and his pain-filled cry filled the room. His breath panted in and out, but after a second, Dan’s eyes almost rolled up in his head as he let out a loud moan, and his half-hard cock was long and erect.

Dan’s hips strained and gyrated as his open mouth let out a guttural noise that sounded almost painful.

Latherous fell to his knees in front of Dan and licked Dan’s shaft. Dan shuddered at the added sensation of the vampire’s tongue moving over his cock. Then, Latherous took Dan into his mouth and Dan’s moans turned into screams.

A few of the supernaturals who had been talking turned to watch the scene happening almost right in front of them.

Andrew had both of his hands on Dan’s chest as the human bucked against his restraints.

“Holy fucking Christ, I’m coming,” Dan screamed, and then he let out another moan as his body jerked.

Latherous let go of his softening cock with a pop and grinned. “You taste good, Dan, but we’re not done with you yet. Andrew sips slowly so we can savor sweet humans.”

Dan hung limp for a moment, but soon his cock once again grew and Emily saw tears falling down Dan’s face. “Sweet Jesus, it’s starting again. I can’t come again.”

“Oh yes, you will, my pretty boy. You are going to come again, and again, and again.”

Latherous gracefully got up and walked behind him. “Let me bend him a bit, brother.”

Andrew moved, and the contraption Dan was restrained to bent, making Dan bend just enough. “Perfect.” Latherous stepped behind Dan and reached over for a white tube. He coated his own cock.

“I’ve never ass fucked before,” Dan said. His tone wasn’t scared, but it sounded breathl
ess.

“Now you have.” Latherous’s eyes closed as he worked his way in.

Dan’s moans started once again and his cock looked like it was painfully hard, and soon his body shook as Latherous’s face took on a look of sexual bliss. “I’m all the way in your sweet ass, Danny.”

“Fuck, oh fuck, oh god. Shit.” Dan panted as his hands opened and closed. The moans that tore from his throat made Emily want to attack Logan.

Several more observers stopped and watched as pre-come glistened on Dan’s cock as it strained forward.

Latherous growled and held Dan’s hips as pulled out and thrust back into him. He raised his head to the ceiling and he pressed in, gyrated his hips, and pulled out.

“Fuck.” Dan’s eyes opened as thick semen shot out of his cockhead as Latherous repeated the action.

“Oh Dan, you feel so good,” Latherous groaned as his neck strained.

Emily turned her face into Logan’s neck and let her eyes close. She wasn’t sure how long the two vampires fed on the human, but it felt like every few moments she was shaken out of her slumber by Dan’s screams of ecstasy.

When Emily opened her eyes, she saw they’d finally finished with him. “I think Danny boy has had enough for one night,” Andrew said and licked some dripping blood off Dan’s neck. “The bouncer, Mark, will take you to a room where you can rest and eat. You can’t come and see me again for a feeding for a while, but if you just want to fuck, do come back, Danny.”

Danny nodded and his gaze stayed on Latherous as two strong men helped him toward the back.

The thudding of the dance floor was almost quiet after all that screaming from Danny, and Emily felt herself drifting in and out of sleep again.

Logan stiffened and his arms curled around him. Emily looked up to see what had caused Logan’s alarm, and she saw the vampire, Devon, walk in.

Rachel’s face paled and her lips pressed together in a slight grimace. She swallowed hard a few times, and her eyes darted from one of the enforcers to Emily and then to the floor. Rachel seemed to be avoiding eye contact with Devon.

When Rachel lifted her hand to her hair, her hand was shaking and she licked her lips. Her skin flushed, and finally, she stole a glance at Devon.

Her eyes widened when she noticed that Devon was staring right back at her.

Rachel glanced away and then back at Devon, before she became interested in her napkin again.

Emily smiled. If she didn’t know better, she would swear Rachel and Devon had a relationship, but Devon was a vampire. Humans and vampires didn’t date, did they? She’d have to ask Logan later on.

“Devon,” Logan said in a strained but polite tone.

“Logan.” Devon tore his attention away from Rachel, and then regarded Emily. “Good to see you made it back to your mate.”

“I did.” Staring at him made too many memories from that night come back, and she looked away.

“I never had a chance to thank you for intervening.” Ash stood up and held his hand out. “Thank you, Devon.”

“You’re welcome. I am sure you’re suspicious of my reasons.”

“I am,” Logan confirmed. “I am not sure what game you’re playing.”

Devon stared at Rachel for a moment before looking back at Logan and Ash. “Not all of us want a war with the lycans. We enjoy the peace we’ve shared. My bloodthirsty uncle and his cohorts spend their evenings talking of old times when vampires were the feared supernatural of the land and long to relive the glory days.”

“Those glory days weren’t so great, Devon.”

“No, they weren’t, were they? I know you don’t believe me, but I am on your side.”

Logan snorted. “While our races have enjoyed peace, we are far from buddies.”

“I know, but perhaps we can change that one day. It is our own hatred of one another that keeps the animosity going.”

“Perhaps, but not while vampires attack innocent lycan families.”

“There is little I can do about my uncle, especially now that he’s kicked my nest out of the coven.”

Emily saw Ash’s eyebrows shoot up. “He threw you out?”

“Yes, but we already found a place we wish to settle. We’ll be fine. Watch your backs though. I don’t hear anything now that I am out of the coven.”

“We will,” Logan said, and Devon turned and left.

“This is…” Ash paused and stared at the ceiling.

“As I’ve heard before. This shit is getting real.” Logan held Emily closer for a moment.

“Yeah,” Ash said quietly. “I have a bad feeling about all of this.”

Emily closed her eyes. She hadn’t been a part of the supernatural community for long, but she had the feeling that the shit was about to hit the fan. Was a war coming, and what would happen to them if the vampires and lycans started fighting? Wouldn’t humans notice if the supernatural races started fighting one another? The thought of her baby boy being hunted because people feared what they didn’t understand sent cold chills through her. She’d kill anyone who tried to harm her baby or her mates. She may be just a human woman, but she could get nasty if someone threatened her family.

  Chapter Eleven

Emily held Jackson up over her head as he smiled at her and kicked his legs. Grandma Erma smiled and walked over to hug Rachel close to her.

  “How did you do tonight?”

Rachel smiled over at her. “Well, I didn’t run screaming from the building, but I did say ‘red.’”

“You did?” Erma asked and then frowned. “What happened?”

“Well, I thought I would do all right. I was with a guy named Devon.”

“A vampire? You were with a vampire?” Erma turned her angry eyes to Logan and Ash. “You let a vampire touch her?”

Logan shrank a little at his grandmother’s displeasure with him. “She’s a grown adult, and there were enforcers watching her, as well as Marcus and Derek. They stepped in the second she said ‘red.’”

Erma sighed, and pulled Rachel closer. “You need to be careful of them, dear. Now tell me, what did he do to you?”

“He wanted me to talk about what had happened to me with the coyote pack. I was okay until I saw the pity in his eyes. I don’t want a pity fuck.”

Erma sat Rachel down at the table and walked over to Logan. “Were Kieran and Devon there together?”

“Yes,” Logan said, nodding, “but it seems they’ve broken away from Mortef.”

Erma frowned. “Isn’t Mortef Devon’s uncle?”

“Yes, which is why he is still alive. He helped Emily escape the coyotes.”

Emily didn’t hear much more of the conversation after she and Rachel went into the living room, and sat. Rachel played with Jackson, but her laughter seemed forced.

“So the vampire tried to get you to talk?” Emily asked.

Rachel nodded. “Yeah, and honestly I don’t ever want to remember that time. It was awful.” Her face paled, and tears started running down her cheeks.

Emily’s heart broke for Rachel. She hadn’t known her long, but she knew something terrible had happened to her.

“Without providing details, can you tell me what happened? I wasn’t here then.”

“Some coyotes kidnapped me, and they did horrible things. Not only to me, but to other people, and they forced me to watch.”

Emily knew the terror they liked to inflict, and she shuddered. “They hunted Jackson and me. They enjoy causing fear; they thrive on it.”

Rachel wiped a tear and nodded. “The more I screamed and begged them to stop, the worse it got. I wanted to die for a while because the nightmares got so bad.”

  “But you’re better now, right?”

“I am.” Rachel gripped Emily’s hand.

Emily noticed how Rachel wouldn’t look at her, and she wondered how much of her healing was forced. Trauma like that didn’t just vanish with grandma’s cooking.

“Time to go, pet.” Logan held his hand up for Emily to tak
e.

Emily squeezed Rachel’s hand and stood up. “I’m glad you’re getting better. Maybe we can get together.”

“Well, we do have coffee every week up at Anna’s place. You are welcome to join us. We talk about love, sex, and sexy romance books.”

“That sounds wonderful,” Emily said as she clipped Jackson into his car seat.

With a kiss to Grandma Erma, Emily joined her mates as they left. Ash held the car seat, and Logan held the diaper bag and food Grandma Erma had given them.

It was a dark, moonless night, and even the bright lights did little to light up the evergreen foliage that surrounded Erma’s property.

It was late, and they were all tired and remained quiet as Logan turned toward their home. Jackson cooed and made little baby noises as they drove down the country road. Headlights blinded Emily and she put her hand up.

“Fuck,” Logan yelled. “Hold on. Ash, call for help.”

Emily screamed as she realized a huge pickup truck was heading right for them, and another pulled out of the woods. The screeching of tires and gunshots filled the night and added to Emily’s terror.

“They’re shooting at us!” she shrieked. Emily unbuckled her seat belt and covered Jackson to protect him from the bullets that tore through the SUV.

“We’re under attack on Wolf Creek Highway. There’s two trucks, and they’re shooting at us!” Ash screamed into his phone. “Fuck. I don’t know exactly where we are, asshole. Just get here!” he added.

Emily threw her body over Jackson when the SUV swung around wildly as Logan tried to escape the pickup trucks and bullets.

Metal crunching metal filled the cabin of the car, drowning out all the screams and curses. Emily hit the roof, and then the seat and the roof again. She had no control over where she landed and could only scream in terror. They were rolling, and she had a moment of terror before she hit dirt.

Blinking, Emily struggled to catch her breath as the SUV settled right side up. She could hear Jackson crying and Logan cussing a blue streak.

“The fucking door is jammed, Ash.”

“My legs are pinned. Kick the door and check on Em.”
